Advantages and Disadvantages of Modern Steam Cleaners

Along with robotic vacuum cleaners, pressure washers, and other cleaning equipment, steam cleaners have taken a special place. This device can successfully replace a washing vacuum cleaner, expensive cleaning products, and many folk methods that do not always achieve cleanliness.

Technological features of modern models

Initially, steam cleaners were used to disinfect rooms in medical centers. Heat treatment has long been proven effective in eliminating fungi, bacteria, and viruses. A simple device was needed to disinfect floors and walls.

Modern models are distinguished by small dimensions and a mass of additional nozzles, with the help of which cleaning becomes easier and more efficient. For example, with the help of narrow nozzles, you can clean hard-to-reach places in the car interior, on bends, and folds, and use a special brush to clean clothes.

Other functional units of the device have also undergone modernization. Modern manufacturers complete equipment with temperature controllers, removable water tanks, and extended cables. To generate steam, you can use scented water and not only clean the clothes but also refresh the fabric.

Advantages of steam cleaners

Cleaning the surface with heated steam eliminates old grease stains, and after heat treatment, the surface remains clean, dry, and free of grease. This advantage is especially true for homes where people with allergies live.

Some of the significant benefits of steam cleaners include:

  1. Elimination of harmful bacteria, fungi, and viruses.
  2. Breaking down old grease stains from furniture, curtains, or outerwear.
  3. Eliminating unpleasant odors in the car interior. Car owners often use a steam cleaner to minimize the smell of tobacco smoke and gasoline.
  4. Renewal of fabric coverings due to exposure to hot moist air.
  5. Cleaning hard-to-reach places with a wide range of nozzles.

With the help of a steam cleaner, you can clean the car interior, outerwear, plumbing, tiles, and even remove traces of rust on a metal surface. But steam cleaning has its drawbacks:

  1. Steam cleaning by itself does not eliminate aged pollution, it breaks it down. After steaming, the user needs to remove the dirt with a brush or sponge.
  2. Hot steam cannot be applied to certain types of surfaces: wood, thin fabric, leather, or soft plastic.
  3. To remove obsolete lime, the surface should be additionally treated with alkaline substances, and then a steam cleaner should be used.
  4. Wet stains remain on hard surfaces; after steam treatment, an additional wipe with a dry cloth is required.

Among the main disadvantage is only a relatively high price. Also, some shortcomings are typical only for certain brands and models. In other cases, the steam cleaner remains a profitable purchase for high-quality and prompt cleaning.
